The Cardiac Device Technician is responsible for assisting the providers in management of all patients with implanted cardiac devices requiring cardiac device therapy. This position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a remote monitoring program that includes scheduling, billing, downloading, and analysis of clinical device transmissions. Typical duties will include clinical interrogation of pacemakers, Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator (ICD) devices, and implantable loop records; review of patient cardiac rhythms, and other clinical interrogation data and preparation of preliminary reports for providers.
Patient Care
* Maintains accurate and complete documentation and records; generates reports as needed; enters information in database system; ensures data integrity.
* Monitor transmission status of all remotely monitored device patients within the practice.
* Holter monitor set up and reporting.
* Interrogation and programming go pacemakers and ICD devices under the edirect supervision of physicians and cardiac devic ecertified allied professionals.
* Downloading and analysis of transmissions.
* Monitoring website for remote transmissions and urgent alerts.
* Registering patients on vendor websites for remote monitoring systems.
* Scheduling of clinic and remote appointments.
* Efficient knowledge and usage of various device programmers.
* Performs device checks/interrogation and oversees changes to devices at the direction of physician.
Education & Development
* Participates in quality assurance activities.
* Participates in the development of policies and procedures.
* Participates in performance improvement initiatives in support of practice improvement.
Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)- Required
Graduate from accredited Cardiovascular or Allied Health Training program or equivalent training/experience (2-3 years) in interpreting cardiac arrhythmia- Required
Bachelor's degree- Preferred
Certification & Licensures
Basic Life Support (BLS) - Required upon hire
CRAT credential/certification- Preferred
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)- Preferred
IBHRE certification- Preferred
Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.
Experience
Minimum 2 years of electrophysiology experience- Required
