Overview

The Accounting Manager is responsible for day-to-day accounting management, assisting with financial and tax reporting, journal entries, consolidations, cash management, and the continued improvement of internal control policies and processes. The Accounting Manager will supervise, manage and develop all members of the accounting team.

Responsibilities

Accounting Management
* Design and maintain accounting information systems to produce timely and relevant financial data.

* Responsible for all day-to-day accounting department duties and responsibilities.

* Works collaboratively with Controller on annual independent audit and other compliance audits to ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with federal, state and local laws as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

*Guides other departments by researching and interpreting accounting policy and applying observations and recommendations to operational issues.

* Establishes financial status by developing and implementing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying and reporting financial information.

* Confirms financial status by monitoring revenue and expenses, coordinating the collection, consolidation, and evaluation of financial data, and preparing special reports.

* Manages financial statement analysis, develop financial components to strategic business plan and convert patient data to information for operational, tactical, and strategic decision-making purposes.

 

Team Leadership
* Supervises the accounting team, including providing performance feedback, developing performance based action plans, and writing annual evaluations.

* Provides leadership, direction support and training to financial management and accounting staff.

* Accomplishes accounting human resources objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff as needed, including communicating job expectations, planning , monitoring, and reviewing job contributions, and reviewing compensation actions, and enforcing policies and procedures.

 

Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.

* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance, Business Administration, or an equivalent related degree - Required


Experience
Minimum of 5-7 years experience in accounting/finance - Required

 

Experience in a hospital/healthcare setting that provides sufficient analytical and healthcare reimbursement experience - Preferred


Demonstrated field expertise in business administration, accounting or finance - Preferred
Minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience - Required

 

 

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
