Overview

The Transfer Center Technician, collaborates with the Transfer Center RN, Clinical Manager, and/or Director, by facilitating registration, admission, and transferring of patients. The Transfer Center Technician collects data, completes data entry into ABOUT, patient flow and Cerner applications, prepares admit lists, coordinates bed placement with Verde Valley Medical Center, and prepares correspondence to referring facilities/physicians. The technician will also serve as a point of contact resource for bed management software questions and issues.

Responsibilities

Administrative
* Responsible for registering patients in the computer, to the appropriate bed.

* Responsible for updating patient admit encounters for the system (NAH).

* Responsible for targeting surgical patients to the identified units and level of care.

* Assists in managing the Patient Placement Center email folder.

* Clerical duties to include: use of computer systems, faxing, scanning, printing, etc.

* Updates Hospitalist Teams.


Communication
* Serves as a point contact resource for bed management software utilization and troubleshooting.

* Manages and triages phone calls, communicating pertinent information to RN in a timely manner.

 

Data/Reporting
* Ensures that data entry into patient flow, Cerner applications, and ABOUT is accurate and timely.

* Assists in data collection and reporting as needed.
Bed Placement
* Collaborates with the Transfer Center RN and FMC/VVMC House Supervisor in the placement of patients.

* Collaborates with the Transfer Center RN to prepare the AM transfer list.


Compliance/Safety
* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.

* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Safety Even Reporting tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

* Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards, to include policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma or GED- Required


Certification & Licensures
BLS (American Heart Association)- Required


Experience
1-2 years computerized bed tracking software or acute care hospital experience- Preferred

Computer experience- Preferred

 

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
