Northern Arizona Healthcare is hiring for Nurse Residents to join our amazing nursing team at our Verde Valley Medical Center location! We are looking for Nurse Residents to start April, July and September 2024 for the below specialties:

 

Surgical Services - Operating Room

 

Med Surg Telemetry

 

ICU

 

Emergency Department

Responsibilities

Nurse Resident – An employee who has just exited nursing school, is newly licensed, or an experienced RN new to the acute care setting.

Highlights of NAH Nurse Residency

Nurse Residents must be licensed prior to start date. It is strongly recommended that the applicant obtains the soonest possible NCLEX test date in the event retesting is necessary.
Nurse Residents will participate in New Colleague & RN Orientation, CERNER Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Training, Basic ECG Interpretation & ACLS certification.
NAH provides a hybrid & dynamic learning environment geared toward all types of learning styles. Methods include synchronous learning through lecture, hands-on skills, return demonstration, clinical application & asynchronous learning via online modules.


Our residency learning environments consist of:

  • Clinical Learning:
    o Orientee will be paired with experienced preceptors to guide them through clinical shifts on their hired unit
    o 2 to 3 shifts per week with preceptor based on classroom calendar
    o Nurse resident will participate in check-ins with preceptor & educator throughout their orientation time
    o Nurse Resident will be expected to work toward mutually set goals necessary for clinical growth & competency
    o Transition to independent practice will be assessed by the unit based educator, residency coordinator, preceptor, clinical manager(s) & orientee.

  • Synchronous Learning (classroom learning)
    o Weekly Learning Labs – classroom days which consist of integration of expert facilitated discussion, simulation, interactive learning stations & verification of learned content through modules.

  • Asynchronous Learning (online learning)
    o Interactive modules based on specialty. For example:
  • The American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN); Essentials of Critical Care Orientation (ECCO), Emergency Nurses Association (ENA); Emergency Nursing Orientation, etc.
  • Required completion of unit and facility specific modules to assist resident in learning policies, procedures and workflow

 

**NEW to NAH Nurse Residency Program**
To support the nurse resident in their first year of independent nursing practice, the residents and their cohorts will participate in a continued learning plan that lasts one year after date of hire. Continued learning schedule is compatible with shift work and consists of a 4-hour module or in-person class once every four weeks. This time will provide additional opportunities for learning clinical concepts, providing emotional support and enhancing professional growth.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:


- Arizona RN license required by nurse residency start date.

- BLS required
- Nurse Resident must successfully complete ACLS training prior to independent practice. ACLS will be provided as part of the residency program.

 

Education: 

 

*Associate Degree in Nursing- Required
*New hire RNs and those hired on or after 7/1/2016 - Must enroll in a BSN program within one year of hire and complete within 5 years of hire.
*Existing Staff RNs - RNs hired before 7/1/2016, are not mandated to have a BSN, but is highly encouraged to consider our current tuition reimbursement programs.

 

Certification & Licensures


*Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of Arizona- Required
*BLS (American Heart Assoc.)- Required

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
