The Rehabilitation Technician, under the supervision of a licensed physical, occupational, or speech therapist, assists with treatment procedures and delivering patient care as directed by the therapist. S/he works with infants, children, adolescents, adults, and senior patients to meet therapist and departmental needs.
Patient Care
* Reviews patient data prior to patient treatment.
* Implements the Physical Therapist's treatment plan to achieve the stated goals and documents the patient's response to the treatment.
* Obtains and records patient data.
* Reports significant changes in patient condition to Physical Therapist.
Patient Education
* Oversees the initiated teaching and documents inpatient progress reports.
* Demonstrates ability to use equipment according to procedure.
* Demonstrates knowledge of patient/family education and teaching programs.
Operations
* Demonstrates the ability to track, organize and clean equipment for the area of responsibility.
* Demonstrates the ability to track and order supplies for the area of responsibility.
* Demonstrates knowledge of supply and equipment set-up of supplies &/or equipment for treatment procedures as directed by Physical Therapist.
Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
* Demonstrates the ability to participate in ongoing departmental process improvement.
* Attends at least 75% of department meetings; responsible for 100% of meeting content by reviewing minutes, discussing with meeting facilitators, and/or reviewing presentations.
Education
High School Diploma or GED- Required
Certification & Licensures
BLS (American Heart Association)- Required
Fingerprint Clearance Card application number- Required upon hire
Fingerprint Clearance Card- Required within 90 days of hire
Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.
Experience
Advanced training or education in topics of anatomy/physiology/health- Preferred
Direct patient care experience- Preferred
Computer and office skills- Preferred
Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department.
