The Pharmacy Analyst collaborates with the Medical staff and other clinical departments. S/he will build, support and maintain the Cerner system, and manage the corporate database system and associated data processing. Focusing on creating new functionality and replicate across domains, The Pharmacy Analyst implements strategies for monitoring the database in production and providing database maintenance (administer, define, update, and maintain) with SQL analysis as needed. S/he combines knowledge of clinical practice, medication safety, and cost-effective and high-quality pharmaceutical care with the knowledge of technology to produce safe and efficient electronic health record. The Pharmacy Analyst is responsible for coordination of technology with an intimate understanding of changing scientific and biomedical evidence, a dynamic medication distribution system, and maturing technology.
Process Improvement
* Analyzes complex clinical processes and work with providers and clinical staff to develop optimal workflows through the use of technology tools available.
* Demonstrated the ability to provide training and support to pharmacy staff and medication proces as it pertains to the Electronic Health Record; creates training documents/ programs for end users.
* Responsible for developing and documenting the integral procedures that will be used in conjunction with EMR applications.
* Assists in implementing technology to support medication process technology enhancements at a high performing level.
* Optimizes clinical end user workflows and enhances clinical efficiencies through the use of available technical and process improvement tools.
Team Development
* Demonstrates the ability to collaborate with IT, physicians, nurses, ancillary departments to support medication process and other clinical initiatives to support best practice.
* Demonstrates knowledge and ability to work with vendors to support other Pharmacy technologies.
* Demonstrates the ability to learn new systems, applications, software to support the pharmacy department.
* Serves as a resource for clinical, physician and pharmacy practices to comply with and achieve meaningful use criteria.
Position Proficiency
* Demonstrates proficiency in Cerner Millennium applications, including design, build, testing and maintenance of PharmNet and medication process in PowerChart.
* Strictly adheres to IT change management rules and documentation requirements.
* Responsible for project go live support, downtime and recovery processes and to ensure pharmaceutical support to our customers and patients.
* Maintains the knowledge and skills to provide pharmacy support and development.
* Responsible for the clinical and medication policy dimensions of the pharmacy information system, the integrated medical record, clinical documentation system, and the inpatient and ambulatory prescriber order entry systems.
Partnership and Support
* Point of escalation and facilitation between NAH and Cerner for operational troubleshooting and issue resolution.
* Co-lead applicable Cerner related projects at various levels of complexity utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach.
* Subject matter expert for consultation and recommendations on integration of third party systems and medical devices with Cerner.
* Demonstrates effectiveness in leading Cerner related initiatives through broad collaborative skills, deliberate decision-making and effective delegation and follow up.
Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy- Required
Certification & Licensures
Arizona State Board of Pharmacy license- Required within 6 months of hire
Cerner Fundamentals training- Required within 6 months of hire
Cerner PharmNet Certification- Preferred
Experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications- Required
Minimum 1 year of experience in a hospital or alternate care pharmacy- Preferred
Pharm. D. or equivalent clinical experience- Preferred
Cerner build experience- Preferred
Pharmacy Informatics analyst experience- Preferred
Experience supporting Pharmacy technology- Preferred
