The Lead Engineer provides advanced skills involved with the operation of all utility systems at Northern Arizona Healthcare to ensure a safe and secure environment.
Equipment Management
* Assumes day to day scheduling of plant personnel in the manager's absence.
* Maintains, operates, and repairs all boilers and auxiliary equipment to produce steam for heat, sterilization, humidification, and domestic hot water.
* Maintains, operates, and repairs all chillers and auxiliary equipment necessary to produce chilled water and provide cooling to the hospital.
* Oversees the chemical treatment program of all boilers, closed loops, condensate systems, condenser systems, feed waters systems, and pools making adjustments to these systems according to established protocols and guidelines.
* Maintains, operates, and repairs all pneumatic tube system components.
* Performs maintenance as required by the PM program or as directed.
* Maintains and operates all mechanical and electrical systems used for power generation.
* Maintains, operates, and repairs all generators, automatic transfer switches and auxiliary equipment necessary to produce emergency power.
* Maintains and operates all medical gas systems and auxiliary equipment necessary to provide continuous supply of medical gas to the hospital.
* Performs chemical treatment as required.
* Demonstrates ability to perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
* Assists HVAC Technicians and other Plant Operators with specific repairs as required.
* Performs emergency procedures in order to provide continuous service of all utility systems feeding the hospital in the event of one or more system failures under the direction of supervision.
* Performs maintenance and keeps appropriate records for equipment that has had corrective maintenance and/or preventative maintenance.
Financial Management
* Maintains appropriate records and prepares requisitions for each assignment.
* Adheres to cost containment programs as outlined by department management.
Project Management
* Adheres to regulatory requirements.
* Coordinates contractors labor as needed for projects.
* Oversees minor construction/ mechanical projects.
* Maintains ICRA (Infection Control Risk Assessment) Standards.
* Adheres to ILSM (Interim Life Safety Measures)
Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.
* If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame.
Education
High School Diploma or GED- Required
Completion of accredited trade school in related field and/or equivalent education/experience in a related field- Required
Certification & Licensures
Valid Arizona Driver's License with no moving violations within the prior 39 months- Required
Senior Mechanic Evaluation and Certification by “American Hospital Association”(AHA) or “American Society For Healthcare Engineering” (ASHE) - Preferred
EPA Freon handler's certification- Preferred
Experience
Minimum 3 years recent plant operator experience- Required
Four (4) years of healthcare maintenance experience - Preferred
