The Project Manager (PM) is responsible for managing multiple small to large construction projects from initiation through shutdown. He/she will manage cross-functional teams with meetings and activities which bring distinct, specific projects to successful completion on time, within budget, while producing quality outcomes in support of business objectives. S/he will constantly strive to deliver quality products and services in the context of continuous improvement. Responsible for facilitating resource reviews and initial due diligence for project requests prior to going for approval. Identify opportunities for improvement, provide recommendations through process analysis, and assist driving efficiencies by implementing changes on projects and internal business operations. This role is responsible for coordinating facility planning and development and participating in the NAH Master Facility Plan; it will lead development of campus facility and infrastructure planning for short, medium and long range scenarios. S/he evaluates the current and future utilization of existing facilities and campus space needs and oversees department/unit moves and relocations.
In this position, the PM will follow NAH Construction PM process project management methodology as well as industry standard project management methodologies as established by the Construction Management Association of America. S/he will demonstrate knowledge and usage of various project management tools, and will ensure that all project documentation and artifacts are up-to-date and communicated to relevant stakeholders on a timely basis. The PM will be proficient in the areas of risk management, budget management, project scoping, scheduling, requirements gathering, resource and capacity planning and communications management.
Project Management * Scope and budget potential projects. * Manage the Initiate phase of a project; gathering business requirements and developing preliminary project plans. * Manage the Design phase of a project; developing scope, project plans, and timelines, and finalizing design documents. * Manage the Execute phase of a project; delivering the expected results for the project. * Manage the Activation phase of a project; conducting final testing and training for the release of the product into production. * Manage the Closeout phase of a project; delivering the product to support and formally closing the project. |
Facilities Planning and Development * Project manages the development of campus facility and infrastructure planning for short, medium and long range scenarios. * Influences and provides critical input into facilities-related policy development, implementation and evaluation. * Evaluate utilization of existing facilities and campus space needs, plan for current and future space and site needs, develop concepts for physical changes, and develop cost benefit analysis of developed concepts and scenarios. * Participates in developing campus standards for architectural features in concert with Manager, Construction Projects. * Participates in wayfinding development of the physical environment using maps, directions, symbols and the design of effective wayfinding systems that aid the traveling public; encompass environmental factors, building design, user expectation and signage information. * Assists with property transactions associated with campus facility programming, design, and operations. * Supports the coordination of annual capital budget planning and capital project development. * Conducts studies and assists with the planning and accountability functions associated with campus facility programming, design, construction and operations. * Assist in forecasting current and future needs and costs affecting the system's facilities and furnishings. * Provide facilities enhancement updates through project management communication channels. |
Project Documentation * Generate project design/scoping/proposal documents. * Create project status documents for distribution to stakeholders. * Produce project plans and timelines for projects. * Initiate change management documents (e.g. scope/budget) as required. * Complete project charter and project close documentation. * Create other documentation as required. |
Space Management * Defines space allocation guidelines and space utilization standards and supports campus space working groups. * Coordinate temporary and permanent personnel relocation required to support capital projects and various space needs. * Develops, establishes, and controls the methods, procedures, and systems to increase overall effectiveness of facility space utilization and management. * Develop and maintain mechanism for campus access to reporting for campus space planning and data driven decision making, including reporting of data related to current use, unmet demand, underutilized space, and opportunities for greater efficiency of use. * Participate in the development and maintenance of Space Management Guidelines and Standards, policies and procedures for NAH space planning. |
Systems Utilization * Manage project phases with the NAH designated project management tool. * Prepare project documentation from established templates. * Utilize developed processes and procedures for project management |
Compliance/Safety * Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment and job site for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner. * Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility. * If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates. * Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame. |
