Network Engineer 2 provides design assistance, installation, administration, troubleshooting and maintenance of the network infrastructure including LAN, WAN and Wireless systems. Supports infrastructure systems through performance monitoring, troubleshooting and upgrading. Effectively communicates technical solutions/recommendations to various non-technical audiences.
Operations
• Aids in setting strategic direction for the design, engineering and implementation of network infrastructure.
• Aids in setting methodologies for design, engineering, security and testing.
• Aids in life cycle tracking and replacement recommendations of systems.
• Installs and validates network solutions including LAN/WAN switches, routers, firewalls and wireless systems.
• Works in cooperation with other network personnel to properly configure network equipment.
• Works with vendors to troubleshoot hardware, software and circuit issues.
• Monitors the performance and capacity of existing networks and provides report findings.
• Reviews, creates and updates network infrastructure documentation to reflect changes.
• Recognizes and implements excellent cabling practices including cable labeling, routing, bundling and management.
• Demonstrates strong knowledge of enterprise hardware and software and the ability to operate appropriate systems to support NAH.
• Ensures appropriate knowledge base articles are created and maintained.
• Follows ITIL/ITSM best practice standards for service delivery and service support.
• Work well independently as well as in group settings and can work with individuals of varying technical familiarity.
• Remains technically current on new technologies through reading, seminars, workshops and vendor information.
• Work is onsite with mandatory on-call. Required on-call response time of 30 minutes or less.
• Other duties as assigned.
Compliance/Safety
• Awareness of IT Security policies and guidelines, responsible for updates to security configuration changes on supported systems to promote compliance to include appropriate audit trail.
• Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool.
• Attends all safety-related training programs, performs work in a safe manner, monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
• Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
• Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
• Trains and receives certification in relevant network infrastructure classes.
Education
• High School Diploma or GED – Required.
• Associates Degree in a related field of study – Preferred or equivalent education / experience.
Certification & Licensures
• CompTIA Network+ - Preferred
• Cisco CCNA – Preferred
Experience
• Minimum 3 years of IT experience – Required.
• Healthcare IT experience – Preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of Cisco and Aruba systems – Preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of the following – Required.
o IP subnetting, VLAN, WLAN, WAN and LAN
o TCP/IP and OSI model
o Routing protocol – EiGRP, OSPF, BGP
• Working knowledge of the following – Preferred.
o Cisco ISE or ClearPass
o Cisco Spaces or similar RTLS systems
o VMWare Virtual Networking
• Previous experience with change management processes – Required.
• Knowledge of Service Now – Preferred.
