Overview

The RN Employee Health works with the Director Employee Health, the employee health team and others to establish a comprehensive employee health and safety program in alignment with NAH mission, vision, and values. S/he is a champion for creating and sustaining a culture of colleague safety by providing employee health services and supports employee safety and prevention initiatives. The RN Employee Health implements evaluates and improves services using evidence-based practice guidelines to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations. This position is the welcoming face of NAH to new colleagues, it is essential to offer a warm greeting, be organized and efficiently provide information, support and follow ­through to ensure a smooth and complete on-boarding experience. This position rotates after hours call with other team members.

Responsibilities

Communication & People Management
* Participates in developing, implementing, and evaluating annual & strategic plans for employee health program plans.

* Accommodates new colleagues, volunteers, agency staff and contractors during their onboarding process and follow-up.

* Communicates information to employees about mandatory program timelines, deadlines, and expectations.

* Collaborates with peers to problem-solve, support one another and cover duties for each others time off.

* Involves colleagues and their leaders in injury analysis, RCA and identification or prevention strategies.

* Provides education and support during new colleague orientation in regards to safety and injury prevention.

 
Safety & Quality Management
* Maintains current knowledge of regulatory changes and their effect on employee health programs.

* Provides programs and services that are compliant with local, state and federal regulations and NAH policies.

* Ensures employee health records are maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements and NAH policy.

* Ensures best practices in immunizations, post-exposure protocol and TB control are followed.

* Participates in analyzing injury/exposure trends and implementing programs to improve safety.

* Utilizes evidence-based guidelines to drive process improvements to prevent harm and improve safety.

* Conducts periodic unannounced inspections of units with CAPRs to ensure program compliance.

* Participates as needed in the annual TB exposure control, bloodborne pathogen and respiratory protection program reviews.

 
Financial Management
* Utilizes ASIIS as needed to review immunization records prior to prevent avoidable expense for immunizations or titers.

* Assists in the budget planning process as needed to accurately project Fiscal Year expenses.

 
Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.

* If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.

Qualifications

Education
High School Diploma or GED- Required

Associate Nursing Degree- Required

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing- Any RN hired on or after July 1, 2016 must graduate from a BSN program within 6 years from date of hire into an RN position. For any RN hired before July 1, 2016 a BSN is not required but is encouraged.

 

Certification & Licensures
Active, unrestricted, Arizona RN License- Required

BLS (American Heart Association) certification- Required

COHN-S or equivalent- Preferred

 

Experience
Current knowledge of professional evidence-based nursing (employee health preferred)- Required

Minimum 3 years recent employee health nursing experience- Preferred

 

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
