Patient Care * Assists in intubations including difficult airways. * Uses aseptic and sterile technique to prep, assist with placement and secure all catheter placements performed by licensed anesthesia providers, including IVs, arterial lines, central lines, RICs and floating Swan-Ganz catheters. * Sets up blood warmer and adult IV fluid lines. * Performs trauma response and runs Arterial Blood Gases (ABG) and Venous Blood Gases (VBG) and Activated Clotting Time (ACT). * Assists in all heart cases. |
Operations * Ensures all operating suites are fully stocked with anesthesia supplies. * Makes available, assembles, and assists with the operation of specialized equipment. * Assist the surgical suites staff with room set up and turn over assistance. * Sets up OR for demanding cases (according to licensing restrictions). * Prepares and assembles software and operates the autotransfusion equipment. * Maintains patient records for all procedures utilizing intraoperative autotransfusion. * Provides an estimate of blood loss via autotransfusion unit and total volume reinfused. |
Equipment Care * Collaborates with Biomed to assure equipment is functioning and loaner equipment is available. * Assists anesthesia staff with equipment. |
Compliance/Safety * Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner. * Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility. * If required for the position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates. * Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame. |
