The Director of Pediatrics and Perinatal Services System is focused on the oversight and strategic management of operations. S/he provides leadership to ensure quality initiatives; customer service and fiscal responsibility are achieved and maintained in the department. This position functions across the health care continuum, interacting and collaborating with other professionals to facilitate optimal outcomes.
This position requires 24 hours/day 7 days/week responsibility.
Leadership and Development
* Develops, implements, controls, and evaluates department budgets and productivity.
* Completes departmental training, education, and development.
* Develops, implements, and evaluates succession plans, competency based performance evaluation systems and parallel development programs in contribution to associate development and organizational growth.
Employee Engagement
* Promotes evidence-based practice, and excellence in patient care, patient safety and patient experience.
* Responsible for departmental staff engagement and develops plans to ensure positive staff and provider engagement.
* Assesses, measures, and continuously improves the employee engagement experience.
Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety-related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employee's area of responsibility.
* Ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
* Monitors quality and safety indicators.
* Ensures department and staff are consistently prepared for site/unit visits – (i.e.: TJC, ADHS, internal audits, hazardous surveillance rounds).
* Ensures high patient experience scores are maintained.
Education:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing- Required
Master's Degree- Required
Certification & Licensures:
Active, unrestricted, Arizona RN License or valid, participating compact license- Required
BLS (American Heart Association),- Required
Approved Specialty Certification or Nurse Executive Advance- Preferred
Certification for area of responsibility per organizational policy, or leadership certification from AONE or ANCC- Preferred
Experience:
Minimum 3 years management experience in acute healthcare setting- Required
Minimum 5 years clinical experience- Required
Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
