The Quality Data Administrator provides leadership across Northern Arizona Healthcare to assure high levels of performance on key quality initiatives, as well as on publicly reported quality measures, positioning NAH as a top performer nationally. The Quality Data Administrator identifies and develops quality measures, systematically monitors performance and guides the development and implementation of short- and long-range plans for carrying out the goals and objectives of the NAH system as developed by the Board of Directors, leading to improved performance and integration across the clinical enterprise (acute, ambulatory and medical group). The Quality Data Administrator must have significant skill and experience in data management, measure development and data interpretation, This position is responsible for understanding the methodology behind pay-for-performance programs such as the Health Care Acquired Conditions (HAC) Reduction Program and Value Based Purchasing (VBP) as well as quality and safety rankings such as Leapfrog, US News and World Report, Vizient and CMS star ratings. The Quality Data Administrator must be able to analyze information from multiple sources and programs to help the organization identify and develop proactive initiatives to improve NAH's cost management metrics, quality and safety rankings and the pursuit of high reliability and zero-harm. |
Quality Analytics, Review and Accountability * Monitor the external landscape with regards to all publicly reported metrics, accreditation/regulatory requirements and quality programs. Work with leaders across the organization to develop strategic priorities that align with national trends and the pursuit of excellence at NAH. * Provide a comprehensive understanding for executive audiences of NAH’s strengths and weaknesses related to quality measures, pay-for-performance and quality and safety ranking programs across all NAH care settings. Analysis to include financial impact of programs when applicable. * Collaborate with leaders across the NAH system to develop an organization-wide vision for quality performance and monitoring. * Lead the Quality division in translating data insights into performance improvement opportunities to improve overall quality of care, including the development of new process and/or outcome measures as needed to support improvement efforts. * Serve as the quality measure subject matter expert and execute new strategic quality initiatives designed to support organizational goals. * Develop and implement a process to utilize internal and external data sources to identify opportunities and potential topics for process improvement initiatives. * Facilitate decision-making and problem solving based on analysis and insights from performance data. Lead data analysis work for complex projects and collaborate with other team-members on timely project completion. * Strong ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, analyze data, interpret results, ensure validity of conclusions and make clear, succinct and logical recommendations to decision makers. |
Quality Data Management and Support Systems * Guide Quality leadership on procedures for the governance of quality data assets and consistent application of data governance procedures. * Develop the strategy for how to best use source systems such as those used for safety event monitoring, core measures, electronical clinical quality measures (eCQMs) and performance benchmarking solutions such as the Vizient Clinical Data Base (CDB) to improve overall performance, reduce variation, increase cost effectiveness and benchmark cost and quality of care measures. * Create and update standards for the use of quality source systems to ensure consistency in report output and adherence to data governance procedures. * Act as a liaison between the organization and the product developer for quality systems such as the Vizient CDB to ensure that the organization is aware of product capabilities and recommended uses, including educational and collaborative opportunities with other users. Inform the organization of product resources, new features and enhancements. * Use advanced functionality within systems like the Vizient CDB to run complex reports and forecast future performance. * Partner with Business Intelligence to ensure that all quality measures in use at NAH follow standard definitions and reduce variation in the type of visual displays used for quality data. |
Quality Leadership & Professional Engagement * Engage in lifelong learning as a healthcare quality professional and participate in activities that build skills in data analytics, evidence-based practice, process improvement and other key quality competencies * Provide leadership and actively participate in the development and implementation of strategic, tactical, program and operational quality planning. * Implement processes that engage stakeholders and promote interprofessional teamwork. * Strategize with division, unit and service line leaders to coordinate quality improvement work so that it is aligned across the organization. * Share knowledge and results of successful quality activities through written publications and presentations for peer groups in internal, external, national or international professional settings. |
