Medical Director, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit in Flagstaff, Arizona

Recruiting a Medical Director for our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Inpatient Pediatric Unit in Flagstaff, AZ.  We currently have two experienced pediatric intensivist, and additional coverage is provided by per diem intensivists.  We are recruiting for a third experienced intensivist who will serve as the medical director.

Position Requirements

• Board Certified (not board eligible) in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
• Minimum 5 years attending-level (post-fellowship) experience. Experience in a large, busy PICU preferred.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and experience, ready to take on the role of medical director
• Successful candidate must relocate to Flagstaff

Staffing Model

• 3 Pediatric Intensivists share coverage (full time is 10 days per month with call from home)
• Pediatric Nurse Practitioners with PICU training and experience in house 24/7 take first call for all patients

The Unit

• 14-bed combined PICU and pediatric floor (all private rooms, all rooms are PICU-capable)
• Pediatric Nurse Practitioners primarily responsible for writing notes and orders
• Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Intensivists together care for all patients (PICU and floor)
• Excellent, experienced nursing staff, respiratory therapists, and therapists (physical, speech, and occupational)
• Diverse and large catchment area. Only PICU in northern Arizona, which serves the Grand Canyon, Navajo Nation, and Arizona mountain region
• Level 1 Trauma center
• Active surgical services (including neurosurgery, ENT, general surgery, ortho, trauma, etc.)
• All ventilator modalities (HFOV, etc.). No ECMO. No cardiac surgery.
• Outpatient procedural sedation service
