Overview


The Supervisor of Diagnostic X-Ray provides daily operational leadership and oversight for the FMC X-Ray Department. This position ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality imaging services through effective staff management, equipment utilization, regulatory compliance, and fiscal responsibility. The supervisor leads technologists in both diagnostic and intraoperative imaging, promoting service excellence, continuous improvement, and alignment with departmental and organizational goals. This position reports to the FMC Imaging Manager.

Responsibilities

Operations & Quality
* Oversees day-to-day workflow, staffing, and scheduling for diagnostic and intraoperative X-Ray services.

* Ensures adherence to imaging protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.

* Collaborates with radiologists, physicists, and biomedical teams to maintain equipment performance and image quality.

* Monitors quality assurance programs, including repeat analysis, PACS administration, and radiation safety.

* Leads readiness for Joint Commission and other regulatory reviews.

 

Leadership
* Provides direct supervision, support, and performance management for X-Ray technologists and lead staff.

* Participates in hiring, onboarding, coaching, and evaluating team members.

* Serves as a technical resource and subject matter expert for diagnostic and intraoperative procedures.

* Promotes a positive, collaborative, and service-oriented work environment.

 

Patient Care
* Ensures consistent delivery of safe, high-quality, and compassionate imaging services.

* Provides or assists with imaging procedures as needed, following established protocols and infection control standards.

* Supports patient and family education regarding procedures and care expectations.

 

Education & Compliance
* Maintains departmental training, competencies, and protocol documentation.

* Ensures staff licensure and certifications remain current and compliant.

* Promotes continuous learning, process improvement, and evidence-based practice.

 

Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

* Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Practices in a safe and cost effective manner.

* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.

* If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.

* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame.

* Maintains timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, EMR entries, and patient responses.

Qualifications


Education:

Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology – Required
Bachelor’s Degree – Preferred

 


Experience:

Minimum 2 years as a Diagnostic/X-Ray Technologist in an acute care setting – Required
Minimum 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience – Preferred
Experience in a Level I Trauma Center and/or intraoperative environment – Preferred

 


Certification & Licensures:

ARRT Certification (Radiography) – Required
AZDHS Certified Radiologic Technologist – Required
BLS (American Heart Association) – Required
Fingerprint Clearance Card (within 90 days of hire) – Required
