Using the Transcription Platform, the Transcriptionist will transcribe and/or edits patients’ healthcare documentation dictated by physicians and other healthcare providers. S/he will receive general instructions on routing work and detailed instructions on new assignments. S/he will exchange job-related information to provide routine support, and perform assignments according to pre-determined deadlines.

Responsibilities

Transcribing
* Transcribes and/or edits inpatient/outpatient medical, surgical, radiological, and pathological reports at a 98% accuracy rate, at a minimum of 175 lines per hour.

* Participates in goals set by department.
 
Data Integrity
* Gathers/Verifies information on patients prior to conclusion of documentation.

* Identifies and resolves routing and recurring problems.

* Ability to recognizes when there is insufficient information and brings problems to the attention of leadership.

* Exchanges job-related information to provide routine support on an ongoing basis.
 
Compliance/Safety
* Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.

* Maintains confidentiality of all department, patient, and transcription matters.

* Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame.

* Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.

* Stays current with medical terminology and human anatomy.

Qualifications

Education
  • High School Diploma or GED- Required
  • Associate's Degree, technical college or some college course work preferred; to include medical terminology and anatomy and physiology- Preferred
 
Certification & Licensures
  • AHDI certification (RHDS, CMT, or CHDS)-Preferred
 
Experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of acute care experience- Preferred

Healthcare is a rapidly changing environment and technology is integrated into almost all aspects of patient care. Computers and other electronic devices are utilized across the organization and throughout each department. Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.
