Under general supervision of the provider, the Medical Assistant (MA) Certified works with members of the departmental health care team to provide assistance to providers, patients, and their families ensuring smooth work and patient flow. The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the clerical aspects of post analytical testing and interacting with others using a variety of communication tools. Must handle bio-hazardous and infectious material while following universal precautions and OSHA guidelines.
Scheduling Expectations:
Weekly hours: 24 hours / week, weekends only.
Initial Training Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours / week for 4-6 weeks
Must be available for Monday - Friday training upon hire

This position's primary and majority of responsibilities is focused surgical scheduling and chart audits, determining billable procedures, supplies and implants and enters charges in support of accurate billing. This position is responsible for surgical scheduling and is responsible for the verification and collection of patient demographic and procedural information by direct data entry to the Cerner Scheduling systems. This position liaisons with provider/surgeon offices to secure information specific to the requested services, accurately documenting the data in the encounter database, schedule book and iQueue software. This role also performs a variety of secretarial and administrative duties and support for the department, providers, staff and the director.

The Medical Office Receptionist undertakes a variety of day-to-day office and clerical tasks to ensure that office operations run smoothly and are successful in supporting other business activities. The Medical Office Receptionist obtains insurance information, collects payments and works with the scheduling system as well as acts as an interdepartmental staff liaison between staff, providers and customers to ensure professional service and promote customer relations.
