The Therapist Assistant (OTA/PTA), under the supervision of a Physical or Occupational Therapist, Manager and the department Director, provides direct patient care for inpatients and outpatients by utilizing appropriate knowledge and skills in collaboration with other members of the health care team. A Therapist Assistant must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served. S/he is expected to carry out programs of corrective exercises and treatments for assigned patients, as determined by evaluation performed by a Therapist. This employee is responsible for the health and safety of the patients in his/her care. This employee maintains department records, reports and files as required.
The practice of Physical Therapy shall include assessment, treatment, planning, implementing, education, communication and demonstration of leadership to address the needs of patients and their families as well as to foster a positive working relationship among professionals and ancillary staff. This person may be caring for infants, children, adolescents and/or senior patients and will have the knowledge and skills to care for the physical and developmental needs of these populations. The Electroneurodiagnostic Technician performs all neurology diagnostic tests. This responsibility includes the process of planning, education, implementation, communication and leadership. This person may provide service to patients from neonatal, infant, child, adolescent, adult and senior age groups. S/he will have the knowledge and skills to care for the needs of these populations.
This position assists in the planning of the daily operational, financial, leadership and/or clinical support to patients, staff, manager and director within the department. This position supervises employees and participates in selection, orientation, evaluation and staff scheduling when delegated by manager.
