The Switchboard Operator/Dispatcher is responsible for all hospital switchboard/dispatch operations. The Operator/Dispatcher provides customer service by performing administrative telephone answering duties, code/alarm monitoring duties and dispatching security officers to both emergency and non-emergency calls. The Operator/Dispatcher utilizes appropriate multi-line telephone equipment/dispatching equipment to answer basic and/or routine calls, emergency calls, transfer calls and dispatch to answer basic and/or routine questions and route or transfer calls to appropriate destinations. The Operator/Dispatcher is responsible for receiving, coordinating, and disseminating critical information from and to multiple sources/resources within acceptable time frames.

The RN Transfer Center, under the supervision of the Director and/or Clinical Manager, is responsible for facilitating admissions/transfers to and within NAH. S/he maintains the Physician Referral Line service to provide timely access to area specialists as needed. S/he will direct, delegate, and coordinate the process needed for patient access NAH. S/he follows accepted nursing practice, policy, and procedures. S/he performs procedures that are within the scope of department and nursing practice. S/he seeks assistance and support when necessary, assists in data collection, and facilitates admissions or transfer of patients for patient care. Maintains accountability for own practice and those functions s/he delegates. Within a specified work period, plans and coordinates patient placement and physician consults.

The Patient Safety Attendant under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, is responsible for providing generalized support services in accordance with the Nursing Plan of Care and Medical/Surgical Standards of Care and Practice. S/he must follow all policies/procedures of Northern Arizona Healthcare. S/he performs other duties, as assigned or directed, that are within the scope and abilities of the individual's training. The PSA may interact with patients and/or families, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

The Medical Office Receptionist undertakes a variety of day-to-day office and clerical tasks to ensure that office operations run smoothly and are successful in supporting other business activities. The Medical Office Receptionist obtains insurance information, collects payments and works with the scheduling system as well as acts as an interdepartmental staff liaison between staff, providers and customers to ensure professional service and promote customer relations. The Medical Office Receptionist is able to function with minimal supervision and demonstrates appropriate decision making skills within established guidelines, maintains strict confidentiality, and utilizes discretion at all times. The PCT, including all hospital units and departments and the Float/Flex Pool PCT, under the supervision of the charge nurse, clinical manager, and/or director, is responsible for assisting in patient care, documentation and supply management. PCTs keep the unit supplied, clean, and organized. Additionally, the PCT may function in an office assistant role and answer the telephone, answer questions within their capabilities the patient or their support individuals may have, and perform data entry and data collection.   The PCT in the discharge unit is for assisting discharged patients, coordinating discharge logistics and assisting patients in utilizing resources and accessing health related services. The PCT in the Labor Delivery and Post Partum Breastfeeding Center does not provide direct patient care.   The PCT follows all policies and procedures of Northern Arizona Healthcare. They perform or assist with procedures that fall within the scope of practice of a PCT, and work closely with all members of the interdisciplinary team. The PCT may be caring for infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics populations.   The Float/Flex Pool PCT may be asked to work on any unit in the hospital that is in need of a PCT, change departments during a shift or be asked to work as a Patient Safety Attendant based on need whereupon the PCT duties will cease if assigned to sit 1:1 with a patient; and must complete the same required documentation as a PSA. Call will be required for the Float/Flex Pool PCT.   This position's location is on site only.
